At NIMBLE, every team member contributes uniquely to our mission of turning innovative ideas into real clinical solutions. Today, we’re spotlighting Pol Gómez, our Chief Medical Officer, who joined NIMBLE in January 2023. Pol brought with him a wealth of experience from both the clinical and research worlds, combining his work in cardiology clinical trials with his background as an administrator in the Cardiology Research Group (ICREC) at the IGTP Foundation, where NIMBLE was born.
One of his key contributions has been coordinating the process that led to the AEMPS approval and execution of our first clinical trial, a milestone that allowed NIMBLE to move from concept to clinical validation.
Background
Pol’s fascination with biomedical sciences started with a curiosity about how the human body works, evolving into a passion for translating scientific discoveries into tangible improvements for patients. He earned a degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Barcelona in 2015, followed by postgraduate training in Project Management, Public Health, and Medical Devices.
A pivotal moment in his early career came during his time at Can Ruti (Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol), where he worked as a clinical study coordinator in the Cardiology Department.
“Seeing innovative products tested in patients for the very first time, transitioning from concept to real clinical application, was truly exciting,” Pol recalls. His role models include colleagues and supervisors who combined scientific rigor with genuine enthusiasm for innovation and mentorship.
Joining NIMBLE
Pol first learned about NIMBLE while working in the ICREC Research Group, where the idea for the device originated. He was drawn to the company by its vision and the opportunity to expand his professional experience in medical devices and clinical innovation.
His first contributions at NIMBLE included preparing grant applications and clinical trial documentation, laying the foundation for the pilot study that would mark NIMBLE’s entry into clinical validation. He also played a key role in establishing and maintaining relationships with KOLs in clinical and interventional cardiology, helping to connect our technology with the right experts in the field.
A Member of Our Team
What Pol enjoys most about working at NIMBLE is contributing from the very beginning, shaping both the technology and the organization. He describes the team dynamic as truly multidisciplinary, with professionals from engineering, healthcare, software development, and regulatory fields working together toward a shared goal.
His motivation comes from seeing ideas progress from prototypes to clinical devices and ultimately benefiting patients. Pol’s personal goal at NIMBLE is to continue supporting the development of medical devices from concept to clinical application. Looking forward, he hopes to see NIMBLE as a well-established company with validated microwave-based diagnostic products on the market, supporting cardiologists in their daily decision-making and improving patient outcomes.
Fun Facts
Outside the office, Pol stays active with road cycling, coaches a teenage rugby team, and enjoys spending time outdoors with friends. A quirky fact about him? He rides a three-wheel scooter!
