Introducing David Anguiano: Senior Telecommunications Engineer

At NIMBLE, every team member brings a distinct perspective to the table. Today, we’re spotlighting David Anguiano, our Senior Telecommunications Engineer, who works at the intersection of radio frequency (RF) engineering and medical technology, a combination that sits at the heart of what NIMBLE is building.

Since joining the team, David has taken on the electromagnetic and antenna design side of the technology, covering everything from simulation and microwave measurements to signal analysis in real-world testing conditions.

One of his most significant contributions has been the redesign of the transducer antennas and their integration into the latest WAEVE prototype, a project that required balancing electromagnetic performance with practical constraints like integration into a functional device.

Background

A pivotal moment in David’s career came during his master’s programme, when a research project shifted his perspective from theoretical telecommunications toward something more hands-on. Working directly with antennas, RF systems, and electromagnetic simulation help him understand how waves behave in real environments and how that translates into solving concrete design problems.

Over time, and through different professors and mentors along the way, he has always looked up to engineers who know how to combine deep technical knowledge with a practical mindset.

Joining NIMBLE

David first learned about NIMBLE when the company reached out to him about the role. As he looked more closely into the company and the clinical problem it was addressing, his interest grew steadily. «The more I learned about the project, the more interested I became,» he says, drawn by the overlap between RF engineering, medical technology, and the potential real-world impact of the solution.

What ultimately convinced him was the nature of the role itself, being closely connected to the core of the technology rather than working at its periphery. His first months were focused on building a solid technical understanding of NIMBLE’s sensing principle before moving into the antenna redesign work that has defined much of his contribution since.

What Telecom Engineering Actually Means Here

A common assumption is that telecommunications engineering is about transmitting and receiving signals, and that once those two things happen, the job is done. At NIMBLE, that is precisely where the work begins. The signal is shaped by the antennas, modified as it travels through the body, reflected by the metallic implants, and influenced by how the device is positioned. «The challenge is not only to measure it, but to understand what each part of the measurement means,» David explains. “That’s what makes the work critical: turning complex RF measurements into something consistent, interpretable, and clinically useful.”

A Member of Our Team

David appreciates the range of the work, moving between electromagnetic simulations, RF measurements, data analysis, and signal-processing strategies. He describes the team as genuinely multidisciplinary and problem-solving oriented, with different backgrounds working together to turn technically complex challenges into practical, clinically useful solutions

Looking ahead, he hopes to see NIMBLE reach a point where its RF sensing platform is robust, well understood, and scalable. A platform supported by the clinical evidence needed for real-world adoption.

Outside of work

Outside of work, David is most likely to be found on a padel court, on a ski slope, or out hiking. Fair warning: the moment any sport is involved, he gets competitive.

If he had to sum up his journey in one word: Adaptation.
